Transformed Treasures is the genius of a longtime friend of The Salvation Army as a way to help increase sales at Anchorage area Salvation Army Family Stores.  Silk neckties, dishes, sweaters, jewelry, furniture and other assorted donations find new life thanks to local artists who masterfully transform these items into one-of-a-kind treasures. The "transformed treasures" are auctioned and raise funds to support local Salvation Army programs. Not only does the event promote responsible recycling, it provides a great opportunity to share the ministry of The Salvation Army, where everyday lives are transformed through programs including McKinnell House Family Shelter, Serendipity Adult Day Services, Clitheroe Center and Kings Lake Camp.
